i hope this would be a constructive discussion in the prevailing atmosphere, with all of us in face of yet another taxi fare hike which makes it harder and harder to travel on taxis and relatively more attractive to run a car.

say, you have a budget of $10,000.

you don't want to start paying instalment for a chery/geely/hafei, too dangerous. Laughing

what you really need, is an old car, probably COE 8/2011 or more.

there's a $9999 corolla 8/2011 on sgcarmart.

also a $9800 W124, but COE's till next year. not feasible, plus 1989 models are less reliable it seems.

I calculated how much would an OPC Tata Nano cost in the "Tata Nano" thread..I shall post here my calculations.. Laughing

Before taxes, COE and insurance and all other cost, the car itself is about S$3,600..after adding all the taxes and etc, it's approximately S$24,000..

Cost of an OPC Tata Nano? S$24,000 - S$17,000 = S$7,000

So wait for the Tata Nano to come here, buy an OPC Nano for S$7,000 and you can still keep S$3,000.. Laughing
